Marcus Stoinis and girlfriend Sarah stopped by oblivious photographer on New York street

An oblivious photographer has gone viral among cricket fans after offering a free shoot to a ‘beautiful Australian couple’ in New York, unaware of their identities.

David Guerrero, who boasts 1.1 million followers on Instagram, shares videos of himself approaching people on the street in the hopes of taking their pictures.

While his subjects would usually turn out to be regular citizens, that wasn’t the case on one post captioned “street photography with this beautiful Australian couple”.

“Hey, excuse me guys, sorry to bother you,” Guerrero began.

“My name is David, I’m a photographer. You guys look lovely, I was going to see if I could get you a free photo?”

The offer was initially rejected before a preview of his work convinced them to go ahead with the plan.

Asked where they were from, the pair responded Australia.

But the video made no mention of their names, with Guerrero’s posts quickly inundated with fans declaring he had ‘hit the jackpot’ by meeting none other than Marcus Stoinis and partner Sarah.

Australian actor and cricket fan Adam Zwar wrote: “Dude not aware he’s photographing royalty.”

“A very famous Australian cricketer, wow, he’s so humble down to the earth. Respect!” one fan told Guerrero.

Another said: “THAT’S MARCUS STOINIS. He plays for Australia.. that’s crazy.”

Stoinis is holidaying in New York after taking part in the inaugural Major League Cricket tournament as a member of the San Francisco Unicorns.

While some fans questioned whether the photoshoot was a setup, Guerrero insisted he did not know of Stoinis.

“David you really don’t know who he is?” he was asked.

Guerrero laughed: “No.”

The photographer lucked out on his choice of subject, with the fun-loving Stoinis never shy in front of a camera.

The 33-year-old was filmed strutting and pouting down Prince St in SoHo.
